The internet is exploding with publishers who claim they can help you self-publish your book. Most of them are either ignorant about what self-publishing is, or they are intentionally misleading in their online advertising. Of the thousands of authors who will self-publish a book each year, most of them believe they are self-publishing when in reality, they are not.
This explosion of self-published authors in the last seven years has attracted a host of new publishing companies, eager to get on the self-publishing cash-mountain. Self-published ebooks has outnumber traditionally published books year-in and year-out by ever increasing margins. So, these greedy self-publishing companies rely on the inexperience of eager, first-time authors who dream of seeing their books in print. Many online publishers are far too willing to take advantage of new authors by selling extras that are of little or no benefit to the marketing and sale of ebooks. These greedy publishers make all their money from you, the author, and could care less how many books or ebooks the public buys. They already got handsomely paid through your credit card. The success of your self-published book will have little or nothing to do with the publisher you used, unless they actually promote your book. Most of them don't! They are too busy robbing you. However, when you need more books, the average vanity publisher will make three to five dollars on each book you print and they don't deserve a dime because they have no money invested in marketing your book. They make you pay for everything! If you have been taken or tricked by one of these so-called, vanity publishers, you will overpay for unnecessary services and more often than not, wind up with a low quality, poorly produced book. Most vanity publishers don't even require editing. However, if you want your ebook edited, they will charge you the modern publishing industry standard fees, but deliver cheezy editing help. After they edit your book, you may have typos on every page, and be out of anywhere from $500 to $1,000! You may be asking, how do I avoid going with the wrong kind of publisher? The answer is so simple, you won't believe it. There is one thing vanity publishers hate..
